INBOX ZERO

I have just replied to an email that I got in October, 2006. I have similar emails in my in-box at work. Not thousands of them, in fact my in-box fits on one screen on both computers, but I am committing myself to an empty in-box by, um, (looks at calendar) April 15th. That’s a good day.

Bread as Art

My neighbor’s sister came for a visit, and brought a small portion of her photography “stuff” with her. (She is a real photographer, darkroom and all.) (Yes, I realize this dates me.)

Anyway. I gave them a loaf of bread (I have been making buttermilk bread like gangbusters lately, having 1/2 gallon of buttermilk on hand) and she took a photo of it.

I am extremely, perhaps irrationally, eager to see it. If I can post it, I will.

Finished Some Projects, Starting Some Others

I need someone with a cattle prod near me at all times, to make me write!

The kids are on break. Luckily, the weather is not so dreadful that they can’t play outside occasionally.

The Boy is now obsessed with Runequest. I do mean obsessed. I plan to nuke their computer and reinstall everything this weekend, and I plan to do it verrrrrrrrrrry slowwwwwwwwwwwwly.

I now have an 80GB iPod Classic, and much to my disgust I find myself watching videos on it – mostly of CNET tech news, but still, after ragging on the kiddies so much for watching TV shows on their tiny little nano screens, it’s a bit embarrassing.

Hell Week at work hasn’t been as terrible as I thought it would be – I had to finish the bulletins for Th/Fri/Sun today, as my volunteer collator wanted to come in this evening to put everything together. That means tomorrow I can do all the little things that always get put off, so I can leave for my long weekend with a clean desk. I like that.

The Daughter and I are having a spa day on Monday, Charles’ Christmas present to us. Both very much looking forward to that, I must say!

Trying to figure out what to wear to the wedding in late April – have been told by numerous people to check out J. Jill, so I guess I’ll have to take a look.

Just Bitching

Wow, I haven’t posted in a while. Bad Mary, bad!

I am disgruntled generally at work (although I must say my office is beginning to approach austerity levels of tidiness, yay!). First disgruntlement – my boss chastised me* for a cavalier attitude toward maintaining posted office hours, which was a fair cop to be honest. The very next day I was in the office (this was after our 15th anniversary celebration weekend) my boss and my co-worker wanted me to leave early to go have lunch! I was furious. It was like she couldn’t even be bothered to remember what she tells me from one day to the next. Oh it made me mad.

Next disgruntlement – someone, well actually a lot of people, have been using the church building for unapproved activities – everything from having children roaming the building obviously unsupervised to carrying out business, for-profit, transactions (along the lines of Simply Giving, Pampered Chef, that sort of thing), which are all clearly forbidden by the property usage guidelines. No one is going to have the nerve to speak directly to the offending parties, so I am going to have to endure hours/days/weeks of passive-aggressive bitching about these people with no hope of corrective action being taken. FUN FOR ME!

(*actually, my boss started the sentence like this: “I know you think that…” and can I just tell you, there is not a worse way to open a conversation with me. Way to raise my hackles with just five little words!)
