almost 60F outside, and deafeningly windy (if you are trying to listen to something via earbuds, that is). Sixty degrees today, and snow tomorrow. I do not get this weather.
Quoted from the AP via Yahoo:
“Sen. John Warner, R-Va., recalled that during World War II, President Franklin D. Roosevelt often went on the radio in “fireside chats” to explain to the nation in detail the conduct of the war in Europe and Asia.
“I think it would be to Bush’s advantage,” said Warner, who served in the Navy during the war.
“It would bring him closer to the people, dispel some of this concern that understandably our people have, about the loss of life and limb, the enormous cost of this war to the American public,” he said”
I can’t imagine the horror of having to listen to that man’s voice as he pauses every three or four words, stumbling over the ones he doesn’t know, LYING LYING LYING the whole time.
I hate him. Loathe, despise, and hate him.

It was raining, and I sure don’t want to get my favorite toy wet, so I stayed inside and attempted the exercises that came with this gigantic rubber ball that I bought at Target. Alas, apparently it’s not gigantic enough. Foolish person that I am, I went by the height chart on the box and bought the medium-sized ball (up to 5’11″, and after all I am only 5’8″, or 5’9″ on a good day). I will have to brave Target on Black Friday +2 to exchange it. Pray for me.
But I did make scones today, and I guess they weren’t bad (I have nothing against which to compare them, never having had one before). No one in my family ate them however. So I get to take a bag of day-old scones to work tomorrow. Whoo-hoo.
Went roaming around the Augie campus with my neighbor; no mileage to report. 25F degrees, but no wind, so it was actually quite tolerable. Tomorrow I’m aiming for a four- or even five-mile walk, though, as I listen to the Dawn and Drew Show on my iPod. A little racier than my usual gadget/tech shows, but Leo LaPorte seems so taken with the show that I thought I ought to check it out.
I am also toying with the idea of making scones from scratch, for the second time ever. King Arthur (or at least his cookbook) claims that the dough refrigerates overnight quite well, so perhaps I can return from my walk tomorrow and pop them in the oven to bake while my coffee brews. Doesn’t that sound disgustingly domestic?

We all saw Harry Potter last night; I noticed yet more things that had been cut out of the story (Bagman, for example; and I had COMPLETELY forgotten about SPEW). But the kidlets liked it, including my little nephew, who cowered under Charles’ coat during the merpeople scene, then flatly denied doing so to his mother. SO cute.

It was the wind, yeah, that’s it – the wind, blowing straight out of the Arctic Circle right into my face. That’s what slowed me down. At least I had suitable gloves on and could use my timer.
I am now waiting for four loaves of bread to rise, drinking coffee, and looking at an alarming quantity of Old Towne Bakery doughnuts. Then it’s off to the brother’s house for dinner at 1pm.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

A pleasant walk while the oven heated up; I returned home to bake cinnamon oatmeal raisin bread. Tomorrow: 40 mph gusts of wind. Hm.

My iPod battery is acting funny. I’m hoping it’s because I’m taking it out in the cold. Gr.
