Amazon Strikes Again

Twelve hours after listing it, some crazy fool in Ohio has purchased yet another CD that I put up on Amazon. Yee-hah!

(Slade: Keep Your Hands Off My Power Supply. Why did I own it in the first place? I couldn’t tell you if my life depended on it…)

The Evil Media

I was at lunch today with a gaggle of other church secretaries, and as you might imagine, the discussion (eventually) got around to IRAQ. One of the secretaries is a sort of unofficial step-mom to a young man who is stationed in Iraq, in the same city as THAT PRISON. He writes to his father and this lady fairly frequently, and is for the most part happy to be there, and says that the Iraqis with whom he deals are happy to have the Americans there. At that point, another lady started castigating the “Democrats” for trying to fracture Americans’ resolve, saying that we should all stand together etc etc. A third lady said she thought the media was concentrating too much on the negative, why aren’t we seeing more of these Iraqis who are happy to have us there and so on.

Blog List Added

I have just added a list of a few “political” blogs, the ones I read every day. The Marine guy is (or was) active on the Bujold mailing list that I enjoy reading.

Letter to the Editor

The other night, after a few hours spent blogsurfing, I was in such a state of fury re: the Iraqi prison scandal that I was unable to speak coherently. I fired off four letters, one to the editor of the local paper and three to my congressmen; I think that’s the first time I’ve ever written to them all at once. I think my letter to the editor is going to be printed – I got a call asking to confirm that I actually sent it. We shall see. As usual, I wish I had waited a bit and not sent off a first draft, so to speak, but what can I say? It’s all the people sitting around on their butts, saying “oh well, these things happen,” that is going to allow this to simply vanish as we move on to the next big manufactured “story.”

A Flylady Moment

It’s been, I think, four days since I went into my son’s room with a large Rubbermaid (TM) container, filled it to the brim with all the plastic crap covering his desk and floor (well, most of the floor) and simply took it all away. He has not said a thing, a single thing, about all his missing plastic crap. Has he noticed, is what I want to know…
