Evil Outlook

Well, crap. In order to use the PalmOS’s “Mail” capability (I write an email on my Palm, it goes into the outbox of my mail program at the next HotSync), I need to use Outlook or apparently Eudora. Mozilla Mail is not supported. Hm. That’s annoying.

Otherwise the computer seems quite nice. Nothing like half a gig of RAM to keep things humming along…

I am going to attempt my first DVD next Saturday. Charles is taking the kiddies to see Grandma and Grandpa, so I will have the evening to myself. Wish me luck!

Poor Me

After work today, I have to go to OfficeMax to look at office furniture. For my other office. I lead a hard life, don’t I. We really need another chair in the office at home, now that Charles works with his laptop on my old Linux computer table. Our ten-year-old, beat-to-hell, armless IKEA chair just doesn’t cut it any more. Maybe I can find one of those “kneeling” chairs….hm…..

Outlook

I think I might abandon Outlook for the Mozilla mail program, or Palm. Too much of a pain, not to mention a security hazard!

Wheeeee!

I have the new computer set up and on line. Downloaded iTunes for Windows XP. Burned an MP3 CD that (I hope) will work in our new car stereo, containing FIVE HOURS of choral concertos. Whoo-hoo, you say. I can hear you. Well, nuts to you; these are beautiful. It’s a set I got in Russia. Five hours of Dmitri Bortnyansky. I’m sure it will just THRILL the kids as we drive to school each morning; five hours ought to last us a few weeks, bwa ha ha….

IT’S HERE!

It arrived! A day early! The FexEx Chick *came back* later in the afternoon after trying once earlier in the day! I’m so excited! But I’m *not* fiddling with it right now. Waiting for my book. I have booted it and created two user accounts, and deleted the extra crap shortcuts from the desktop. Slowly, Mary, slowly…. If I start fiddling with it now, I’ll be up until 3 am. Not good.

Doing It Right

I’ve actually ordered a BOOK on WinXP this time around. No more screw-ups! Did I mention, I will be the Queen of Scheduled Backups? I will nag you about this, I guarantee.

Double Computer Whammy

As if ordering one new computer this week wasn’t enough, I had the indescribably joyous occasion to order my new *work* computer today as well. Not as swank as the home machine, but then it doesn’t need to be. We can save our pennies at the church for a scanner and (pleeeeeeeeze) a new printer, one that can cope with legal and letter sized paper simultaneously. I already have grand plans for discarding most of the items in the office, getting new furniture, rearranging, etc etc. Slowly, Mary, slowly…..

“Hell Froze Over”

I see that Apple has iTunes for WinXP now. I am eager to try it. An iPod is definitely my next gadget (one of these decades…)

Finally

…my long national nightmare is over. I have just placed an order for our new computer. WinXP Pro, DVD burner, deluxe DVD burning software, etc. This should last us a few years, assuming I don’t f*** this one up the way I did the last one. If the last one is ever fixed, it will be the kids’ computer. Whoo hoo.

I CAN’T STAND IT!

I can’t even watch the game (well, I’m at work, so I *really* can’t watch the game, but you know what I mean). Oh the stress. HOW could they have done that last night. Curse that fan (no, not really, I feel sorry for that idiot, can you even imagine how terrible he must feel?) !

At least it’s tied right now. Isn’t it?
