New Palm – Obsession

My obsession re: my soon-to-be-new-Palm is reaching dangerous levels. It’s a real pity my drive to/from work takes me right past Best Buy 3 times/week. I know I’m going to snap one day soon and find myself standing in line, clutching the lime green box to myself, probably giggling too. I’ve been told by many CLIE owners who switched from Palms/Visors/etc that moving from one machine to another is as simple as hotsyncing – no extra fuss needed. Am I relieved.

Illness

We’re all sick (I’m not, neener neener – I put it down to my daily smoothie). What a bummer. We were supposed to tour a tractor factory today, but no dice. There will be other opportunities. You know they’re sick (at least mine) when they *voluntarily* lie around on the couch all day.

My New Palm Part II

This is making me crazy. Now that I have decided that the NX60 is beyond my reach, and that I was in fact insane even to contemplate its purchase, and have decided instead on the SJ30, **I WANT TO BUY IT RIGHT NOW!!!!** I have checked Best Buy’s web site about 50 times today. It’s still $220. Their head sales flunky at my local store pulled one out of her pocket (gr…) and scoffed at my notion of a price drop any time soon – $220 *is* a price drop, it was $250 last week, she said. I hate her. Maybe I will get some freelance web work soon (hint hint), it’s happened before (hint hint, you know who you are, but of course you aren’t reading this)…

More Idiots

Honestly. Some moron, obviously with money to burn, had the freaking gall to sit here in our academic computer lab with an external hard drive hooked up running KaZaa or some such stupid program. If I had enough money to be carting around a big external hard drive, I do believe I’d have enough money to sit in my own damn house with my own computer on my own cable modem instead of abusing the limited resources of a cash-strapped and equipment-challenged little community college. I mean really.

My New Palm

It isn’t going to be a Palm. It will be, soon I hope, a Sony Clie PEG SJ30. $220 and falling fast with the arrival of the replacement SJ33 expected any day. I drooled for a long time over the NX60 with its twisty screen, built-in keyboard, MP3 player, etc etc. But $500? I don’t think so. Not for a bunch of stuff I won’t use. The SJ30 has a color, high-resolution screen, and that’s what I want. I will buy a separate MP3 player one of these days, when the kiddies are away at school all day and I can go for long walks again…so anyway, donations of cash, Amazon.com or Best Buy gift certificates are gratefully received. Let me know if you see it for less than $200 any time soon.

Didn’t Even Finish Homework

It is possible that this has been the most boring work day of my entire life. A blizzard which never in fact materialized kept almost everybody away. Here I sat, all day, woe is me. The truly sad aspect is that I didn’t even manage to get my homework done. How hard could it be to read one chapter and answer some questions. I guess I like random aimless web-surfing better.

There was one woman who obviously expected me to call the president of the college, or at least the dean, or maybe the department chairman, because one certain computer lab wasn’t open. The lab assistant didn’t feel like coming in. Yes, that’s a bad attitude but it’s Not My Lab and Not My Problem. That’s probably a bad, anti-”customer” attitude too. Bad bad Mary.

Switch

This is rather scary, because it describes me. My poor children never play outside, because their mommy can’t stand it. Well maybe we can (finally!) have a snowball fight today.

Mixer Boogie

Please tell me how to make my mixer stand still while it’s mixing. I’m sure this has nothing to do with the mixer bowl being filled to 2x capacity…

Dorks

There is a guy here, wearing his Best Buy uniform shirt, who has installed KaZaa on one of the open lab computers. I bet he thinks he’s cool. Little does he know, bwa ha ha, we have MAGIC SOFTWARE on our computers that will erase every single file he has installed and downloaded. So he’ll have to do it all over again, preferably when one of my bosses (i.e. someone who cares) is here.

TV Is Evil

I have 32 minutes to kill until L&O:CI is over. I wonder whether I’d survive with no TV. I think I’d survive the lack myself; I would definitely *not* survive all the whining I’d hear about it though.
